I recently had an opportunity to drive a Tesla Model 3 Long Range for 10 days when I visited family and friend in Vancouver, Canada. I’ve “rented” the Tesla from carsharing company called “Turo“. They have many Tesla listed in the Vancouver Metro area and I’ve found a great host. My experience on the Turo platform was perfect. I have no issues whatsoever. My tip is to rent from a person that actually owns the car rather than a company that owns a fleet. It might give you a more personalized experience. How big is Vancouver compared to Hong Kong? Vancouver in some ways is very similar to Hong Kong.…

My Tesla Model 3 thoughts after 2 years and 50,000 KMs – 2 years review
Looking back at my 10,000KM review and 1 year review, I still stand by what I’ve said about the car. The positives and the negatives are still the same after 50,000KM driven in 2 years. If you’ve read my previous posts, the below will sound repetitive but it is just to show how I am still thinking about the car after 2 years. Some of the positives and negatives are not only for Tesla but for Electric Vehicles in general. This is not only my first Tesla but also my first fully Electric Vehicle so my experience is also in what driving an EV and especially in Hong Kong is…

Tesla costs of ownership in Hong Kong (Licensing & Insurance)
When the Tesla Model S came out in Hong Kong many years ago, there were a lot of talk about how expensive the insurance was and how much it costs to repair the car even for minor bodyworks. The use of aluminum in the Model S means that most of the body cannot be fixed with traditional means like steel could but needs to be replaced panel by panel which increased the costs tremendously. Moreover, body parts were not only at a premium but it sometimes takes months on end for the body part to arrive from the United States. Fast forward to the Model 3, the Model 3 is…

My Tesla Model 3 thoughts after 1 year and 25,000 KMs – 1 year review
I placed my order online on January 2020 and thought I would get the car within 3-6 months but due to COVID, I took delivery of the car on September 2020. I think there were 800+ Tesla delivered to Hong Kong on that shipment alone. My batch was the 2nd of last Hong Kong deliveries that was built in Fremont, California. The subsequent Model 3s delivered to Hong Kong is built in Giga Shanghai. I heard friends driving the Model 3 had various issues within the first 12 months. Some had the door not being able to be opened from the inside and various noises from steering etc. For me,…
